Sharman shoots in real rain

New Delhi, Aug. 9 -- At a time when most filmmakers want to go an extra mile to ensure that weather conditions don't play havoc on a shoot, Ferrari Ki Sawaari director Rajesh Mapuskar did just the opposite.
For a crucial scene, the filmmaker waited for almost two months after the first schedule wrapped up because he wanted to film it with the real monsoon showers. "I have been working under Rajkumar Hirani and Vinod Chopra for a while. One of the first things I learnt is to be true to the script," says Mapuskar, who is directing Sharman Joshi (inset) in this film. "We have shot the scene with the Mumbai University campus as the backdrop, and live on roads with common people watching, even when we were shooting with Sharman Joshi. It was essential to shoot this scene the way I did, since it's one of our most important sequences, says Mapuskar.
The scene was wrapped up two days ago at Marine Lines. The film had got permission to shoot on the campus after about 18 years.
It's commonplace that films are seldom shot with real rain showers since they are highly unpredictable. But apparently there were nohiccups here, and the 'shoot went on smoothly'. Mapuskar insists that waiting for the rain did not cause any delays.
